Network Operating Center (NOC) Technician

Position Description
Blueport is growing and looking for energetic technicians to join our Walpole MA Network Operations Center (NOC) Team. For over two decades, our team of innovators has designed and delivered technology for the world’s most recognized brands.

There is no typical day in the NOC. You will be challenged with issues ranging from one user not able to connect to Wi-Fi, to an entire property’s network being down. As a NOC team member, you will be responsible for handling tickets that have escalated beyond initial troubleshooting, proactively monitoring equipment, performing updates, configuration changes, and maintaining equipment documentation. Every member of the NOC team brings different individual strengths to the table, and we unite and empower each other to deliver remarkable customer service.
Blueport provides 24×7 support. Our schedule consists of 4 days a week / 10-hour shifts. Shifts may include weekends. Shift schedules are set, however as we grow our team, there will be opportunities to change days/hours within our shifts. You will also be part of an on-call escalation rotation to assist our Tier 1 team overnight.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ensure completion of escalated tickets.
  • Responsible for working tickets assigned to the Tier 2 Team for a wide variety of issues.
  • Assist Tier 1 team with questions via chat and taking escalations.
  • Maintain and support customer network infrastructures, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Perform configuration changes per customer or project requests.
  • Perform updates to equipment.
  • Assist with documenting procedures for both internal and external use.
  • Experience with PBX or Mitel systems is a plus.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals
  • IP addresses, Subnetting, VLANs
  • HP Switch CLI
  • Cisco Switch CLI
  • Wireless network fundamentals
  • Pre-employment CORI, background check and drug test is required
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
