Project Engineer

Position Description
We are seeking a Project Engineer to work successfully as part of a team to complete projects in a timely manner with a focus on quality. Responsibilities and Duties

  • Deliver assigned tasks within the life cycle of a project
  • Design, configure, implement, document, and deliver detailed technical drawings to meet customer’s requirements
  • Manage and update installation documentation, providing the as-built necessary to support customer’s equipment
  • Assist with the design, configuration, documentation, installation, and support of other technologies provided by Blueport, including RF and IP TV solutions, analog and IP telephone PBX system, managed routers, analog and IP surveillance camera systems, sound systems, and access control systems
  • Test implemented networks to ensure quality and optimal functionality
  • Survey properties for the installation of networks
  • Lead Blueport Field Technicians and/or subcontractors as required to ensure installations are completed on schedule and according to Blueport’s standards and customer’s specifications
  • Communicate with customers, colleagues, and supervisors. Report matters requiring attention to management.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, break-fix and NOC tasks as required
  • Participate in after-hours on call rotation
  • Work with colleagues to improve standards and processes
  • Stay current on new technologies and changes in the industry
  • Utilize general business acumen to support effective IT engagement

Qualifications and Skills

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5-years related experience
  • Strong network administration and support skills
  • Experience configuring and installing routers, firewalls, servers, layer 2/3 Ethernet switches, and wireless access points
  • Excellent in troubleshooting complex problems in various network manufacturer equipment types
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with complex cabling jobs including CAT5/CAT6 cable terminations and testing
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Experience with survey and analysis software a plus
  • Basic IP telephony and network monitoring tools knowledge a plus
  • Cisco CCNA or similar certifications a plus
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed
  • Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have reliable transportation
