Telecommunications Technician

Location: Walpole, MA
Compensation:  Based on experience

Position Description
The Telecommunications Technician will design, install, troubleshoot, perform MAC’s and maintain Mitel PBX Systems as well as identify areas of improvement to increase efficiency.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, move, add, change, and upgrade Mitel Hospitality PBX Systems including, Mitel 3300, Mitel SX-200, Mitel 470, and Mitel MiVB, HP/Aruba Switch, and WatchGuard Firewalls.
  • Troubleshoot system failures in hardware, configuration, and/or infrastructure.
  • Investigate customer issues and provide solutions for customer voice routing requests.
  • Inspect LAN infrastructure and fix problems/bugs.
  • Provide technical direction and training to customers on PBX usage and offer advice and instructions.
  • Participate in on-call support rotation.
  • Occasional travel to customer locations for break/fix, upgrades, and new installs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Understanding of network fundamentals including, IP addressing, subnetting, vlans, Cisco and/or HP/Aruba Switch CLI, firewalls, and servers.
  • Understanding of both Analog and IP telephony, including, T1/PRI, Tip and Ring, LS and GS trunks, and SIP devices and trunks.
  • Understanding of Enterprise telephony, including voicemail, hunt groups, ring groups, auto attendants, etc.
  • Ability to learn new solutions and troubleshoot and learn older telecom solutions at times.
  • Previous experience in both networking and telecommunications.
  • Mitel certifications preferred.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications equipment.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Pre-employment CORI, background check and drug test is required
